A fringe is common

Among the many things a female English friend of mine told me, this one comes to mind first: "It's an amazing liberty for a woman to go out with we hair." She also told me that a fringe is common.  Oh, please, say it isn't so! Where does that leave the so-called no-fringe fringe then? Apparently, women like to hid behind a fringe.  Or was that mere misogny from a Man Devil (Mandevillian), who, himself, likes to sneer at people from behind his lace curtains.  Surely there are many kinds of fringe. Nevertheless, I have it on the authority of an old hair dresser friend of mine that the famous page boy look--the bob--is not a hair style, and that she point straight up refuses to "cut anybody a bob". Is there no end to the point blank intolerance of bangs?
