This morning I fumbled to find my voice a line I caught on the wind falling flat as I woke slowly to the radio with the volume turned down too low for me to hear the voice of the news presenter or the erstwhile poet in my head or so it seemed to me then both were speaking in tongues disguising their meanings and covering their tracks like mimes in leotards and slippers and hats with fascinators performing with the strength of Baryshnikov and the footwork of Fontaine parading grace like a circus wheel in some latter day Babel watching a music video madier it easier as my feet kept time better than my head and soon I felt the rhythm even as I heard the beat the rhyme came upon me quickly and I tried to catch it with my lips I wonder how dogs find it so easy to pick a throw when at last I could give the words mouth I forgot them again and only the rhythm returned the rhyme to the tip of my tongue I wonder if Homer ever stuttered or stumbled when ...

Lapsuso

I've always thought it was most unfair for Adam and Eve to be expelled from the Garden surely God set them up with the typical temptation of the serpent and the sweetness of apple flesh or pomegranate or whatever it was Eve shared with Adam if God were so perfect why couldn't he have passed that on to man and woman? but maybe that was the plan to give him choice and the power to do and get it right and make mistakes too to let him be proud and humble too to sin and to exceed common greed or lowly motives of fear and self-forgetfulness in feats of extraordinarly strength and speed grace enough for love and other circuses nevertheless we find ourselves flawed and fallen postlapsarian for crimes beyond the Flood and therefore having sinned before Noah we are ante antediluvian always making slips of the tongue lapsus and lapsuso backsliders every one
Hydrangeas are a special treat of late Summer they are just starting now some sharing the blush cream colour of bridal roses others going red others still trending blue based on what's there in the soil for them to use in their effort to attact the bees and show themselves worthy of the place God gave them to give us joy as we toil to make ourselves shine and honour the light within us as we take satisfaction in the bounty of blooms the hydrangea shares unselfishly unpretentiously for the sole prupose of putting her own foot forward in that turtle slow race on uneven ground in stiff humidity in wilting heat that marks for parents the story of their children's source and origin as the sons and daughter's of life's longing for itself and the consolations for pain and those subtle sufferings that cannot sociablly be shared without fishing for sympathy or asking for consideration not a douceur or any sort of b...
